Silchar: The recurring problem of waterlogging on Shyama Prasad Road continues to trouble residents, with knee-deep water accumulating on the stretch whenever it rains. Despite the issue being highlighted repeatedly on social media and in local news reports over the years, a permanent solution remains elusive.
Residents say even a short spell of rainfall is enough to inundate the road, making movement difficult for pedestrians and causing inconvenience to motorists. The situation has become a familiar sight during the monsoon, raising questions about the effectiveness of the area’s drainage infrastructure.

Locals allege that several road and drain construction projects have been undertaken in the area, but the absence of proper planning and execution has prevented any meaningful improvement. As a result, the same problem continues to recur year after year.
Many residents have also pointed to poor-quality construction and inadequate supervision of development works as major reasons behind the persistent waterlogging. They argue that such shortcomings not only waste public resources but also hinder the city’s overall development.
While frustration among residents is growing, there has been little public protest over the issue. With another rainy season underway, locals are once again urging the authorities to take concrete steps to address the long-standing problem and provide lasting relief.
