Addressing the developments, the Chief Minister said the government is working on an ambitious roadmap to ensure reliable and affordable electricity for consumers while enhancing the operational and financial strength of power utilities across the state.
One of the key decisions taken during the meeting was the proposal to list Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited and Assam Power Generation Corporation Limited on the stock exchange. The move is expected to help both state-owned power companies access capital markets and raise resources for future expansion and modernization projects.
The government believes that the proposed reforms will play a crucial role in improving power generation, transmission, and distribution capacity, while supporting Assam’s long-term economic growth and energy security goals.
The Chief Minister reiterated the state’s commitment to building a robust and efficient power sector capable of meeting future demand and positioning Assam as an energy-surplus state in the years ahead.
