Silchar: The Lions Club of Silchar Valley View on Tuesday organised its permanent outreach project, a Diabetes Detection Camp, at Jyotisalay Old Age Home in Malugram, Silchar.
The club has introduced a new approach to its permanent project during the current Lionistic Year. Unlike the previous year, when the camp was held at Om Health Care in Bisfuti, the project will now be conducted as an outreach programme with four diabetes detection camps to be organised every month in different parts of the district.

At Tuesday’s camp, elderly residents of the old age home, support staff and needy people from the surrounding locality underwent blood sugar screening. A total of 51 people were examined, of whom five were found to have high blood sugar levels.
The club has assured that it will closely follow up these five individuals and extend support for their further medical examinations and treatment in the best possible way.
Residents of Greater Malugram appreciated the initiative, describing it as a meaningful humanitarian service that would benefit the local community.
The programme was led by the club’s President, Sanjeev Roy, in the presence of Project Chairperson Pushpabati Roy and members Gyanashree Prakash, Bandita Trivedi Roy, Sutopa Chakraborty, Amita Roy, Chumki Roy and other dignitaries.
