Silchar: Lions Club of Silchar Valley View celebrated National Broadcasting Day on Thursday in collaboration with the authorities of All India Radio (AIR) Silchar, marking the occasion with enthusiasm and a seminar highlighting the importance of public broadcasting.
A team of the club, led by its President Sanjeev Roy, visited the AIR Silchar station and took part in a short seminar organised to commemorate the day. Delivering the introductory address, Roy described the club as a close associate of the AIR Silchar family and highlighted the role of radio in connecting communities and spreading awareness.

The Head of Programme at AIR Silchar, Hritabrata Bhattacharjee, was the chief speaker at the event. He spoke about the history, significance, and objectives of National Broadcasting Day, while underlining the vital role played by All India Radio in serving the public. He also thanked Lions Club of Silchar Valley View for its continued initiative in observing the occasion every year.
During the programme, Bhattacharjee and Senior AIR official Shantanu Karmakar (Assistant Engineer) were felicitated by the club in recognition of their contributions. The celebration concluded with the distribution of sweets and refreshments among the participants by members of the club.
Among those present were Krishnendu Chakraborty (Assistant Engineer), Anand Kumar Verma, Tulshinangshu Bhattacharjee, Gopal Chandra Das, Monoj Kanti Das, Jhulon Burman, Panna Sharma, Sunil Kumar Das, Himadri Chakraborty, Tapan Kumar Das, Abhijit Kar, and others.
Project Chairperson Bandita Trivedi Roy and Co-Project Chairperson Sahin Akhtar expressed their gratitude to the AIR Silchar authorities for their cooperation in making the programme a success.
