Guwahati | Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday spoke with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to review the flood situation in the state and assured all possible assistance from the Centre for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.

During the conversation, the Prime Minister sought a detailed assessment of the damage caused by the floods, the ongoing rescue and relief operations, and the challenges faced by the state administration in reaching affected areas.

Sharing details of the discussion on social media, Chief Minister Sarma said he briefed the Prime Minister on the measures being taken by the Assam government to tackle the crisis and ensure relief reaches every flood-affected family. He also outlined the state’s efforts to support displaced residents and restore essential services in inundated areas.

According to the Chief Minister, Prime Minister Modi expressed grief over the loss of lives and widespread property damage caused by the floods. He assured that the Union Government was treating the situation with the highest priority and would extend every possible support to Assam in its relief, rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts.

The Prime Minister’s assurance comes as Assam continues to grapple with severe flooding across several districts, with state agencies, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and other emergency teams engaged in rescue, evacuation and relief operations.

The Centre’s support is expected to strengthen ongoing efforts to provide immediate assistance to affected communities while facilitating long-term rehabilitation and restoration of damaged infrastructure.
