IMPHAL | Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Tuesday reiterated the state government’s commitment to establishing a permanent campus for the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur, saying efforts are underway to expedite land allocation for the project.

Addressing the institute’s 13th Convocation at the City Convention Centre in Imphal, the Chief Minister said the government is actively engaging with all stakeholders to facilitate the transfer of land at the earliest. He described NIT Manipur as a key institution contributing to the development of both the state and the nation.

Congratulating the graduating students, Khemchand Singh lauded their academic achievements and wished them success in their future careers. He highlighted the growing importance of technical education in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, stating that graduates from disciplines such as Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering would play a vital role in nation-building.

He said institutions like NIT Manipur are poised to make significant contributions towards the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed India, describing the institute as one of the Northeast’s emerging premier technical institutions. He urged students to pursue excellence, embrace innovation, and use their knowledge and skills to contribute to both Viksit Bharat and Viksit Manipur.

The Chief Minister also acknowledged the support of Kakching MLA Rameshwar Singh in advancing the proposal for the institute’s permanent campus. He said discussions with the concerned stakeholders would continue to ensure early completion of the land allocation process.

Chairperson of the Board of Governors Bajrang Lal Bagra also congratulated the graduating students, encouraging them to uphold the values of integrity, innovation and public service. He stressed that education should be guided by ethics and compassion and called upon the graduates to contribute meaningfully to nation-building and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

During the convocation, the Chief Minister, along with Board of Governors Chairperson Bajrang Lal Bagra and NIT Manipur Director Prof. D.V.L.N. Somayajulu, presented gold medals and awards to meritorious students in recognition of their outstanding academic performance.

The ceremony was attended by Registrar Prof. Khumukcham Tomba Singh, members of the Board of Governors and Academic Senate, deans, faculty members, officers, staff, graduating students, parents and invited guests.
