Imphal |Senior Congress leaders, led by  former Manipur Chief Minister and Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Okram Ibobi Singh, on Friday strongly criticised the Manipur government’s decision to shift the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur complex from its present site.

Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhawan in Imphal, Ibobi Singh expressed concern over the proposed relocation, alleging that the move was against the interests of the state and would adversely affect the institution’s planned development.

The press conference was attended by senior Congress leaders, including Gaikhangam, CWC Member of the AICC; Moirangthem Okendro, former Education Minister and former MPCC President; Dr. Kh. Ratankumar, former Minister; Thokchom Lokeshwar Singh, former Speaker; Dr. Kh. Loken Singh, former Minister; Devbrata Khumanthem, former Working President of the MPCC; Victor Keishing, Working President of the MPCC; Km. Tilotama Loitongbam, Vice President of the MPCC; Hareshwar Goswami, Vice President of the MPCC; along with PCC members and office-bearers of the MPCC.

The Congress leaders urged the state government to reconsider its decision, stating that any move involving a premier educational institution should be taken only after due consultation with all stakeholders.
