Silchar: On the occasion of Women’s Equality Day, the Lions Club of Silchar Valley View felicitated two successful women from the Barak Valley for their contributions to education and public service.

Professor Dr. Swarupa Bhattacharjee, Head of the Department of Political Science at Gurucharan University, was honoured for her dedication to society through education. Bhabani Bhattacharjee, retired Head Assistant of the District Inspector of Schools office, Cachar, was also felicitated for her sincere administrative service in the district’s education department.

The club said such successful women can serve as role models for others and inspire the younger generation while promoting the idea of women’s equality. The felicitation was held at the respective residences of the two women. They were presented with a Lions pin, diary, a gift and an uttoriyo.

A delegation of the Lions Club of Silchar Valley View, led by President Sanjeev Roy, Vice President Anup Roy, Samsul Islam and Project Chairperson Bandita Trivedi Roy, among others, took part in the programme.
