Imphal: Manipur MLA Keisham Meghachandra Singh on Monday condemned the killing of a 17-year-old Liangmai Naga youth in Tamenglong district and alleged that the state government had failed to take adequate steps to prevent recurring incidents of violence.

The remarks came amid renewed tension in the state following the killing of the teenager, who was reportedly ambushed while travelling between villages in Tamenglong district.

Singh expressed concern over the incident and said repeated cases of violence raised questions about the government’s efforts to ensure the safety of civilians.

The killing has added to concerns over the continuing security situation in Manipur, where sporadic incidents of violence have continued to affect several communities.
