New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will prepare a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure the safety and security of journalists after the killing of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh at around 10 p.m. on Saturday.

Three assailants posing as journalists killed Atiq and Ashraf. The decision has been taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Home Minister Amit Shah. It may be mentioned here that both Atiq and Ashraf were shot dead in full media glare. Atiq was accused in the 2005 BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case and in the Umesh Pal murder case in February 2023 too.
