Diphu : Today former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and ex-Executive Member (EM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Jagat Sing Engti, leveled serious allegations against the KAAC.

He has accused the council of deliberately delaying the publication of advertisements for the appointment of Sixth Schedule Special Teacher Eligibility Test (SSS-TET) qualified candidates.

Addressing the media at the Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee’s office in Diphu, Engti criticized the KAAC’s Education Department and its Chief Executive Member (CEM), Tuliram Ronghang, for their failure to act on this pressing issue.

Engti pointed out that while the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) have successfully issued appointment letters for teaching positions ranging from primary to higher secondary levels, the KAAC has lagged behind.

“If BTC and DHAC can provide appointments, why is KAAC failing to do so?” Engti questioned, labeling the inaction as a significant failure of the KAAC’s Education Department and its leadership under Tuliram Ronghang.

Highlighting the plight of SSS-TET qualified candidates, Engti noted that many have been waiting for months for the KAAC to release job advertisements. 

He warned that if the delay sparks protests or agitations in the coming days, Tuliram Ronghang would bear full responsibility for any consequences. 

“The candidates are frustrated, and their patience is running out. The KAAC must act immediately,” he asserted.

Engti further criticized Ronghang’s frequent claims of prioritizing quality education in Karbi Anglong, pointing out glaring deficiencies in the region’s education system.

He mentioned that numerous lower primary schools in the district are operating with only a single teacher, while middle schools face severe shortage of teaching staff. 

“How can the KAAC claim to focus on quality education when schools in the duo hills district are so understaffed?” Engti questioned.

The allegations come amid growing concerns over the KAAC’s administrative efficiency, with Engti’s statements adding pressure on the council to address the staffing crisis in schools and expedite the appointment process for SSS-TET qualified candidates.

Jagat Sing Engti was accompanied by ex Executive Member and senior district Congress Vice President Raton Engti and other Congress party workers.
