Nagpur : To strive to the utmost and show unwavering loyalty—this is the highest example set by Naveer Bajiprabhu Deshpande through his actions,” stated historian Dr. Kedar Phalke. He was speaking at the event organised by the Naveer Bajiprabhu Deshpande Action Committee, Nagpur, held in front of the statue of Bajiprabhu Deshpande at Ramnagar Chowk on Friday.
He further said that Shivaji Maharaj did not offer Bajiprabhu any estate, jagir (land grant), or monetary reward, yet he was ready to sacrifice his life. This was because he knew that his sacrifice was essential for the survival of the nation, and that its survival was of utmost importance. To inspire patriotism, we must remember Bajiprabhu.

He prevented even a single soldier of the Adilshahi army from advancing through the Ghodkhind pass. Because of this, Shivaji Maharaj did not have to face a dual-front battle and could safely reach Vishalgad. Shivaji Maharaj had immense confidence and trust in Bajiprabhu from the Hiradsa Maval region, which is why such a significant responsibility was entrusted to him. The memory of the brave Bajiprabhu, who sanctified the pass with his valour, must be honoured.
On this occasion, the dais was graced by Committee President Advocate Vijayarav Deshpande, Secretary Manish Bagalkote, Convenor Shivani Dani Wakhare, RSS Dharampeth Bhag Sanghchalak Shyam Pattarkine, Former Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, and Sule from the CKP Mandal.
Before the main event, the dignitaries paid floral tribute to Bajiprabhu’s statue at Ramnagar Chowk in Nagpur.
Shyam Pattarkine welcomed the chief guest speaker. In the introduction, Advocate Deshpande emphasised that the committee would not limit itself to this one program but would continue to organise inspiring activities for students. Manish Bagalkote delivered the vote of thanks, and the program was anchored by Medha Nandedkar.
Many distinguished citizens, leaders, and representatives of various organisations attended the event.
