2 Women Held in Hailakandi Theft Case, Rs.90,000 Recovered Within 12 Hours

Hailakandi: Police in Hailakandi town solved a theft case within hours after recovering stolen cash from two accused women.

The incident took place at the residence of Bishal Acharjee in Ward No. 6 on March 17. Soon after the complaint was lodged, a team from Hailakandi Police Station launched an investigation under the leadership of TSI Nishi Ranjan Dey.

During the operation, police apprehended two women, identified as Champa Das and Sandhya Deb. Following sustained interrogation, the team recovered Rs 90,000 in cash, which had been stolen from the house. The recovery was made within 12 hours of the crime.

Police said the case has been registered as Hailakandi PS Case No. 46/2026 under Sections 331(3) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
