IMPHAL | The Association of Healthcare Providers (India), Manipur Chapter, has expressed serious concern over the disruption and obstruction of medical services during the recent 48-hour general strike that began at midnight on August 17.
In a press release issued on Thursday, AHPI Manipur highlighted that several member hospitals reported instances where healthcare delivery was hindered. The association emphasised that while peaceful protest is a recognised democratic right, emergency medical access must remain entirely uninhibited to prevent life-threatening delays.

AHPI Manipur has earnestly appealed to all groups and individuals to permit free, uninterrupted passage for patients, accompanying attendants, and ambulances; Healthcare professionals and support staff carrying valid identity cards, along with vehicles transporting essential medical supplies, must be allowed to travel safely.

The association underscored that civic responsibility and the right to protest must go hand in hand, calling on the public to ensure compassion prevails so that critical care is neither denied nor delayed.

The appeal was jointly issued in the public interest by AHPI Manipur Chapter’s President Dr. Kh. Ratankumar Singh and Secretary Dr. Asit Kumar Debnath.
