Diphu February 25: Based on a specific input about transactions of illegal weapons by unknown miscreants in Karbi Anglong district within jurisdiction of Diphu police station special operation was launched yesterday evening under the command of Sanjib Kumar Saikia Superintendent of Police Karbi Anglong.

A team of police officers lead by Sri Nayan moni Barman, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), Officer In Charge of Diphu police station Inspector JS Khobung, Sub Divisional Police Officer of Maibang (Dima Hasao district) backed by CRPF unit stationed at Birla camp of Diphu carried out the operation yesterday night.

In the operation police arrested Nijesh Langthasa aged around thirty years resident of Doyapur village Dhansiripar Nagaland, Manik Haflongbar resident of Dimaidi village of Dhansiri locality and Kumud alias Rothai Phonglo resident of Adarsha village Dhansiri locality.

Police have recovered one AK series Rifle with magazine, three .32 Pistols with magazines, three live hand grenades and one hand made gun.

The arrested persons after arrest confessed that they kept concealed the arms under a bamboo grove wrapped in plastic shit in the premises of Nijesh Langthasa Dilangi village located within the general area of Nailalong under Diphu police station.

Diphu police have registered a case against the arrested persons (No 10/24 U/ S 120B/387 IPC R/W Sec 25(1A) /25(1) (a) /35 Arms Act, 1959).Sanjib Kumar Saikia Superintendent of Police Karbi Anglong has informed the media that investigation is under process to find extremist link or other possibilities in this arms case.
