Silcoorie: A joint art competition was organised by the Lions Club of Silchar Valley View and the Purnima Nag Memorial Society at Samiran Nag Modern English Medium School, Silcoorie, Cachar, on Sunday to mark the 80th Independence Day.

A total of 89 students took part in the competition across four different age groups. The participants displayed great enthusiasm and creativity during the event.

The results will be announced shortly, while the prize distribution ceremony will be held on August 25 at the same venue.

Representing the organisers, Sushanto Roy, Aman Verma, Nikita Nunia, Nandita Chakraborty, Puja Pandey, Sharmistha Das, Rudra Das and others were present at the programme.

School Principal Pronoy Nag and Lions Club of Silchar Valley View project chairperson Babul Kumar expressed satisfaction over the successful conduct of the competition.

The organisers said more such initiatives would be taken up in the coming days to promote art and culture among children and young people.
