GUWAHATI: The Assam Education Department has issued a set of special guidelines for schools across the state, with the new advisory set to come into effect from Wednesday. According to the advisory, school gates must be closed before the morning prayer begins. Entry into the school premises will not be allowed without prior permission.

The department has also directed that no person should take photographs or record videos inside school premises while classes or other school activities are underway without authorisation. Schools have been advised to take necessary steps to prevent any unwanted or untoward situation on their campuses and maintain a safe and disciplined environment.

The advisory has also stressed cleanliness and hygiene. Schools have been asked to ensure that toilets and urinals remain clean and properly maintained. However, parents, members of the School Management Committee (SMC), and concerned departmental officers and staff will be permitted to enter school premises for relevant purposes.

The Education Department said the guidelines are aimed at ensuring a more regulated, safe and disciplined environment in schools across Assam.
