Silchar: Assam Minister Kaushik Rai on Saturday held an important meeting with officials of Assam University, Kendriya Vidyalaya authorities and the school principal at the Cachar District Commissioner’s office to discuss the future of the Kendriya Vidyalaya located on the Assam University campus.

The meeting was held after the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Assam University and the Kendriya Vidyalaya authorities expired, raising concerns over a possible disruption of the school’s operations.

Following detailed discussions, it was decided to extend the validity of the MoU by another six months to ensure that the school continues to function without interruption.

Rai said the state government will also hold discussions with the Union Ministry of Education within the next few days to find a permanent solution for the Kendriya Vidyalaya at Assam University.

The initiative, he said, is aimed at protecting the interests of the students and ensuring a stable and conducive learning environment.

The development comes as parents and students had expressed concerns over the uncertainty surrounding the continuation of the school following the expiry of the existing MoU.
