The girl named Jhumki Chowdhury, 27 years old is the daughter of Piyush Ranjan Chowdhury, a retired Forest Department employee. She was residing with her three brothers and her parents in a rented house next to the dam adjacent to the ghat.  According to her brother, after passing HSLC, she was suffering from neurological diseases, as a result of which she was unable to opt for higher studies study.  Jhumki was gradually becoming mentally exhausted from various problems.  Family members have tried hard to keep her healthy and tried building up the good spirits.
