Parimal Shuklabaidya, Minister of State for Forest, Environment, Excise and Fisheries, inaugurated the first and air-conditioned hygienic fish marketing center in Barak Valley at the premises of Fisheries Development Department in Cachar district here on Friday.

 The Department of Fisheries has informed that the center will be run under the supervision of FISFED by adding fish science technology with the help of the state’s own priority fund.

 On the occasion, Dr. Dhrubajyoti Sharma, Managing Director, FISFED, gave a welcome address at the inaugural function on Friday. He explained various aspects of marketing and care fishes.

 At the formal meeting, State Fisheries Minister Parimal Shuklabaidya expressed satisfaction over the increase in fish production in the state and highlighted the revival of FISFED.

Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli and Deputy Inspector General of South Assam Division Dilip Kumar Dey addressed the meeting.

Dilip Kumar Paul, MLA of Silchar constituency encouraged everyone by participating in the function.

 In keeping with the program, a fish farmer ceremony was organized with the beneficiaries of Assam Agricultural Trade and Transformation Project (APART).  Dr. Dhrubajyoti Sharma, Officer-in-Charge of APART Project, Dr. Sanjay Sharma, ARYAS fish Coordinator and various officials participated in the event.  Rafiqul Haque urged the fish farmers to take this benefit.

 Beneficiaries of various projects including Blue Revolution Project, State Agricultural Development Scheme Project, Fisheries Resource Scheme of the Prime Minister were given aid materials, cheques and letters of approval.

Barak Valley social worker Uday Shankar Goswami, fishfed expert Umakanta Dubey, Karimganj District Fisheries Development Officer Prashant Dutta and others participated.

It may be mentioned here that high quality food items are also available at the Fisheries Marketing Center in collaboration with Fisfed’s Aquaculture Development Association and arrangements have been made to deliver fish to buyers from door to door in Silchar.
