Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, was in Lakhipur in Cachar today to campaign for BJP and especially for the Lakhipur BJP candidate Kaushik Rai. The Chief Minister was accompanied by his Ministerial colleague, Sorokhaibam Rajen, the education Minister.  

Addressing the public meeting at Binakandi, Singh echoed that BJP is the party of development. He stated that it is not long back that in Manipur there were violence and disturbances. But now there is peace after the BJP government coming to power.

Appealing to the public particularly the Manipuri communities across Assam, to vote for BJP for the overall development of the region, Manipur CM said that BJP can usher in development under the leadership of PM Modi as is visible in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim and Manipur.

Addressing Kaushik Rai as his friend, Biren Singh echoed that Kaushik should be voted to the Assam Assembly and that he will personally appeal for his Ministerial birth in the upcoming BJP Government in Assam so that Kaushik can represent more appropriately the Manipuri community in general.

Speaking at the sideline of the meeting he said that it is very important that Cachar and Manipur develop a stronger relationship as it is a historic fact that both the region is culturally connected for centuries.

Biren Singh said that with the construction of the 4 lane National Highway connecting Cachar with Manipur, there would be the light of development in days ahead to come.

Dr. Rajdeep Roy, Member of Parliament from Manipur touched upon how the connectivity between Cachar via Moreh in Manipur can lead to Laos, which itself will create growth opportunity and it is the vision of BJP to bring such development in the region.

Dr. Roy also highlighted that as the double engine government of Centre and Assam is helping create a conducive environment for governance, similarly, he echoed that both the MP of Silchar and MLA of Lakhipur can work together. for the development of Lakhipur and appealed to the public to vote for BJP.

Kaushik Rai, the BJP candidate besides other promises stated that if elected he will construct a College for the poor in the name of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya in Lakhipur. Kaushik committed to work together with former MLA Rajdeep Goala to make Lakhipur an ideal constituency. 

Rajdeep Goala, the former Congress MLA who had joined BJP but could not get a ticket was seen for the first time today campaigning for Kaushik Rai. Former MLA, Goala appealed to people to vote for Kaushik Rai. Rajdeep Goala stated that he left Congress Party due to its directionless and now that the Congress party has joined hands with the ‘communal party’, AIUDF. Goala detailed his hope for the development of Lakhipur under the BJP government.
