Questions Possible Trafficking Hub
KRC TIMES Manipur Bureau
Imphal: Former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Tuesday expressed concern over a series of drug seizures at Imphal Airport, raising questions about whether the airport is becoming a transit point for narcotics trafficking.

In a post on X, Singh referred to a major seizure carried out on April 14 by a joint team of the Central Industrial Security Force, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Airport Police.
According to officials, the team recovered 6.74 kg of suspected brown sugar during the operation and arrested one Md. Sabir Ahamed, a resident of Kwakta Khuman Thongkhong in Bishnupur district.
Highlighting the incident, Singh urged authorities to take serious note of the recurring cases, warning that repeated seizures point to a possible pattern of organised drug trafficking through the airport.
The latest recovery has once again brought the issue of narcotics movement in the region into focus, with security agencies expected to intensify surveillance and enforcement measures at key transit points.
