Gorlosa’s move comes after the BJP decided not to field her from the Haflong constituency this election

Haflong: In a significant political development ahead of the Assam Assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cabinet minister and sitting Haflong MLA Nandita Gorlosa on Sunday joined the Indian National Congress.
Her induction into the Congress took place in the presence of the party’s Haflong candidate Nirmal Langthasa, who is also an APCC General Secretary.
Gorlosa’s move comes after the BJP decided not to field her from the Haflong constituency this election, opting instead to nominate a new face, Rupali Langthasa.
Sources indicate that following her entry into the Congress, Gorlosa is likely to replace Nirmal Langthasa as the party’s candidate from Haflong. However, there has been no official confirmation from the party regarding any change in candidature so far.
The development is expected to impact the electoral dynamics in the hill constituency, with both parties now recalibrating their strategies ahead of the polls.
