Bathinda: Workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Punjab’s Bathinda have filed a police complaint against Mallikarjun Kharge, alleging that his recent “snake” remark during an election rally in Assam could incite unrest in the country.

The complaint was submitted to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Bathinda by BJP members, seeking legal action against the Congress president.

Speaking to reporters, former Punjab BJP state secretary Sukhpal Singh Sra said that Kharge’s statement was inappropriate and had the potential to disturb public harmony. He urged authorities to take strict action in the matter.

The controversy stems from a speech delivered by Kharge at a rally in Assam, where his alleged remark has drawn sharp criticism from BJP leaders. The party has accused him of using provocative language during a politically sensitive period.

There has been no immediate response from the Indian National Congress regarding the complaint.
