Imphal: Nemcha Kipgen, Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, has strongly condemned the deadly attack on a civilian passenger convoy along the Imphal–Ukhrul road, terming it a “cowardly, barbaric and inhuman act.”

The incident occurred near TM Kasom Village in Ukhrul district on April 18 at around 2:30 pm. Two civilians were killed in the attack, including a retired personnel of the Naga Regiment.

Expressing deep grief over the loss of lives, Kipgen said she was “deeply pained and profoundly saddened” by the incident. “Such a heinous crime against innocent civilians is unforgivable and a direct assault on humanity,” she stated.

The attack has once again raised serious concerns over the security situation along key routes in the hill districts of the state. Authorities are expected to step up measures to ensure the safety of civilians and prevent further incidents.
