At least three numbers of schools are being benefitted under 28 constituencies of the district

In order to popularize the sport of volleyball in the state, the Governor’s Girls Volleyball mission scheme was centrally launched by the Assam Governor today in Assam and along with all districts of the state.

The ceremonial programme was organized by the office of the District Sports Officer (DSO) in PS’s conference hall in which the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, Principal Secretary Lalneizovi Nampui, attended as the chief guest.

At least three numbers of schools are being benefitted under 28 constituencies of the district which will be done phase-wise. In Dima Hasao district, 28 numbers out of 84 will benefit in the first phase.

Giving a short speech during the occasion, PS Lalneizovie Nampui said, “Sports are beneficial as they teach punctuality, patience, discipline and teamwork and also keeps one healthy”. Stating that if sports are given importance in everyday life regularly, one shall be very active and healthy. Being involved in various sports helps people in protecting them from various diseases and makes a person strong physically and mentally.

After the welcome speech by DSO, Zagir Khan, the aims and objectives of the scheme was briefed by Addl. Director cum IS, Ingti stating that sports help to develop qualities that are essential to lead a complete and healthy life. Sports make people mentally strong and enhance physical fitness. In his speech, he also stated that with such encouraging schemes from the government, it is hoped that more number of girls participation is seen in various sports competitions organized from time to time at the district level.

DIPRO Purabi Phonglo during her short speech said that physical fitness and mental fitness is equally important especially for youth as they are at the growing stage. This will help in empowering oneself physically which in turn will help the students academically.

Other guests present during the occasion were i/c Addl. Director of Education cum Inspector of Schools Biren Singh Ingti, DIPRO Purabi Phonglo, Dy Inspector of Schools Azior Rahman Khan, SI Ezra R Lalsim, Headmasters, teachers and students of various schools.
