Drugs Worth Rs.2 Crore Seized on NH-37

Two Detained in Lakhipur

Lakhipur: In a major anti-drug operation, Lakhipur Police seized narcotics worth over Rs.2 crore after intercepting a vehicle on National Highway-37 near Kanthagram.

Acting on specific inputs, police stopped a white Bolero (registration number MZ05A 8164) at a naka checkpoint. During the search, officers recovered 1.065 kg of suspected morphine, locally known as crude, and 22 grams of suspected heroin hidden inside two soap cases. Two mobile phones were also seized from the vehicle.

Preliminary testing confirmed the presence of heroin and morphine in the recovered substances.

Two individuals have been detained in connection with the case. Police said further legal action is being initiated under the NDPS Act, and investigation is ongoing.
