HAFLONG | Northeast Frontier Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma assures that the works on the electrification of the Lumding–Badarpur hill section will be completed before Durga Puja,2026.

Sharma stated that rapid progress is being made to introduce passenger train operations on electric traction through the hill section within the next two months. He also confidently expressed that this will mark a significant milestone in the history of railway operations along the strategically important hill route of Northeast India.

The commencement of electric traction will improve operational efficiency and enhance the overall reliability of train services. The development could also pave the way for the introduction of the Vande Bharat Express in the region leading to the connectivity of the Barak Valley and adjoining regions with the rest of the country.

Once the project is completed, the entire route will be ready for seamless electric train operations, opening a new chapter in rail transportation across the region.
