Silchar: In the run-up to the reinstallation of the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the Netaji Statue Reconstruction and Installation Committee has announced an essay competition focused on the life, values, and contributions of the iconic freedom fighter. The competition is scheduled for August 6, and will be held across various government and private schools in the Barak Valley.

In preparation for this initiative, a coordination meeting was held on Wednesday at the residence of Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty. The meeting brought together a number of distinguished headmasters, principals, and members of the organising committee to discuss the smooth conduct of the event.
Key points of discussion included the active role to be played by teachers, students, and parents in ensuring wide participation and engagement. The gathering also laid the groundwork for a larger public event slated for August 24, which will mark a significant moment in honouring Netaji’s enduring legacy.
The committee has appealed to all schools to motivate students to take part in the essay competition with zeal and patriotic fervour, underlining the importance of remembering and reflecting upon the ideals of one of India’s greatest leaders.
