KRC TIMES Manipur Bureau

Imphal: Families of 14 detained Kuki-Zo villagers in Manipur have appealed for the immediate release of their relatives, claiming they are innocent civilians with no links to violence or armed groups.

In an emotional public statement, the families said the detainees have remained in custody since May 13 and are undergoing severe physical and psychological distress amid the continuing ethnic tensions in the state.

The families alleged that the detained villagers were wrongly picked up during security operations and urged the authorities to conduct a fair review of the case. They also appealed to the government and human rights organisations to intervene and ensure justice.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the fragile situation in Manipur, where ethnic unrest and security concerns have continued to affect normal life in several districts.
