Fresh violence erupted in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on April 28 resulting in the death of one Kuki-Zo volunteer at Bethel Village under Koubru range.

A gunfight broke out in the fringe area of Leimakhong-Kangchup region at around 2.30 am on Sunday morning leading to the death of one and 3 others injured.

As tension mounts in the fringe areas of the Leimakhong-Kangchup region, women and children from Kharam Vaiphei and L. Phaijang villages in the region were evacuated to safer locations on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, the Committee on Tribal Unity, or the CoTU, Sadar Hills imposed 12 hours total shutdown from 12 noon of April 28 till 12 midnight in the entire Sadar Hills Kangpokpi district following the death of a Kuki-Zo volunteer in Kangchup Bethel Area of Kangpokpi District by armed miscreants this morning.
