Imphal | Expressing deep anguish over the fresh spell of violence in Manipur’s hill areas, which claimed nine precious lives and left 14 houses torched in the last few days, Moirangthem Asnikumar Singh, Senior Spokesperson, BJP Manipur Pradesh and former Chairman, Loktak Development Authority, Manipur, has strongly condemned the incidents.
“Every innocent life lost is a tragedy, and every home destroyed represents shattered dreams, fear and immense human suffering,” Asnikumar said.
He questioned, “How many more lives must be lost and how many more homes destroyed before we collectively choose the path of peace? Violence and retaliation will only deepen our wounds, widen divisions and push lasting peace further away.”
Asnikumar strongly urged the authorities to take immediate and decisive action to protect civilians, restore law and order and bring the perpetrators to justice. At the same time, he appealed to all communities, civil society organisations and stakeholders to exercise utmost restraint, reject provocation and work towards de-escalation.
“Manipur cannot afford another cycle of bloodshed. Our people deserve peace, security, dignity and the opportunity to rebuild their lives. No grievance can justify the killing of innocent people or the destruction of homes,” he said.
Making a fervent appeal for peace, he stated, “Let humanity prevail over hatred, dialogue over violence, and reconciliation over revenge. Let us join hands to stop this senseless bloodshed and restore peace and harmony in our beloved Manipur.”
Asnikumar also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. “May the departed souls rest in eternal peace, and may those affected find the strength to endure this difficult time.” “Peace is not a weakness; it is our collective responsibility and our only way forward,” he added.
