Gauranga Roy stressed the value of reading the Gita regularly and said its teachings should find place in daily life

Silchar: Sanskrit Bharati’s Dakshin Assam chapter marked Gita Jayanti on Monday at Ambicapatti in Silchar. The event honoured the day Lord Krishna is believed to have delivered the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna, drawing scholars, social workers and devotees from across the region.
Dr. Shankar Bhattacharjee, president, Northeast India Trust, RSS prant pracharak Gauranga Roy, and Dakshin Assam chapter president Tapomoy Bhattacharjee attended as chief guests.
Under the guidance of Dr. Keshab Luitel, verses from the 12th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita were recited collectively. Speaking at the event, Gauranga Roy stressed the value of reading the Gita regularly and said its teachings should find place in daily life.
Dr. Shankar Bhattacharjee described the Gita’s message as timeless and universal. Tapomoy Bhattacharjee urged the gathering to engage more deeply with the text, calling attention to the depth and clarity of its teachings.
Among those present were Shanti Pokhrel, Dr. Govinda Sharma, K. Chakraborty, Dr. Abhijit Saha and Anirban Sharma. The programme was anchored by Dr. Sandvani Nath. The observance concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Keshab Luitel, bringing the event to a thoughtful and reflective close.
