Governor Dr. Najma Heptulla speaks about the work of the author in various fields, his contributions in the growth of Manipuri language and Art and Culture

The Governor of Manipur Dr.Najma Heptulla  releases a  novel titled “Peeshumlei “at Raj Bhavan today.

The publisher of the Novel is N. Chittamohini Devi. It was written by Prof.(L)Dr.N.Tombi Singh who was a prolific writer in the sphere of literature, an educationalist, seasoned politician, a writer, a journalist and a cultural activist.

He had also written  three famous novel in English namely – Khamba and ThoibiManipur A Study and Manipur and the Mainstream which has earned wide acclaim not only in the state but also outside the state. In recognition of his valuable contribution in the field of literature of the state, he was also awarded  Gang Sharan Award and Sahitya Parishad in 2002. 

“PEESHUMLEI” is the author’s first novel written in Manipuri. It is a work of fiction and also made to describe the state of affairs in Manipur during the reign of Bhagyachandra Maharaj and several king’s before him in the 18th century.

Speaking at the function Governor Dr. Najma Heptulla speaks about the work of the author in various fields, his contributions in the growth of Manipuri language and Art and Culture and also speaks about the importance of literature as a major social responsibility and also give her full confident that the book will certainly be a very popular novel and a socio – political narrative of immense historical and cultural value.

Padmashree Ksh. Thouranishabi Devi, an  eminent scholar, Shri E. Sonamani Singh, an eminent writer, and many cultural activists were also present in the function.
