Imphal : “People do have trust in the Government, as the latter would not do anything against their interests,” and the government would do no wrong for its subjects. This was stated by the Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh while appealing to the people of the state at an official function at Imphal on Thursday.

The CM called all people of the State to stand united at all times, irrespective of communities or political affiliation, and work together to make a better future for Manipur. “Let us all respect our history, culture, and traditions and also take the pledge, as a citizen of India, to make India a self-reliant country,” he appealed.

Speaking on the current unrest arising out of the communal carnage between the Kukis and Meiteis for the past 3/4 months in the State, N. Biren stated the State is going through a crucial path. At this juncture, if we take the right steps, we can save the rights of the indigenous people, adding that the interest of future generations will be affected if we are moved by vested interest, he added. He further stressed the need to think many times before taking a step so that negative consequences do not follow in the future.
