Two Sent to 14-Day Judicial Custody After Assault on Youth

Guwahat | A Guwahati court has remanded Abhilash Dutta and Merin Talukdar to 14-day judicial custody in connection with the recent road rage incident on the Maharaj Prithu Flyover, where they allegedly assaulted a youth following a dispute over overtaking and rash driving.

The incident, which was captured on video and widely circulated on social media, triggered public outrage and renewed concerns over road safety and violent behaviour on the city’s roads.

Confirming the development, Joint Commissioner of Police Ankur Jain said that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found violating traffic rules or engaging in violence, irrespective of their social status or the vehicles involved.

The accused were arrested earlier by the Latasil Police Station. Police officials reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that such incidents are dealt with firmly as concerns over road safety continue to grow in Guwahati.
