Dibrugarh |  Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers Jagat Prakash Nadda on Tuesday began a three-day visit to Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, during which he will review the healthcare situation in flood-affected areas and participate in a series of official engagements.

According to the official itinerary, Nadda arrived in Dibrugarh from New Delhi on August 4 and is scheduled to stay overnight in the town.

On August 5, the Union Minister will visit flood-affected areas in Assam’s Charaideo district to assess the post-flood health situation and review relief and healthcare measures. He will later travel to Mon district in Nagaland to attend official programmes before returning to Dibrugarh for a meeting with the Assam government and other scheduled events.

On August 6, Nadda will travel to Yazali in Arunachal Pradesh’s Keyi Panyor district, where he is expected to review the health response in flood-affected areas and take part in official engagements.

During the three-day tour, the Union Minister is expected to assess healthcare preparedness and the measures taken by state authorities to address the impact of the recent floods. He is also likely to interact with officials on strengthening medical services and public health infrastructure in the affected regions.

The visit comes in the wake of widespread floods and landslides that have affected large parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh over the past several weeks. The disasters have claimed lives, displaced thousands of people and caused extensive damage to homes, roads, agricultural land and public infrastructure.

Nadda, one of the senior-most ministers in the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, heads the Union Ministries of Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers. His visit is expected to focus on reviewing the Centre’s health response and coordination with the state governments in the flood-affected Northeast.
