GUWAHATI: Assamese film Juiphool has won the Best Assamese Film award at the 72nd National Film Awards for 2024.

Director Jadumoni Dutta and producers Rita Dutta and Nandini Sharma received the prestigious award from President Droupadi Murmu at the award ceremony.

The recognition has brought fresh attention to Assamese cinema and its tradition of storytelling. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated the director and producers, saying the national honour celebrates the art and creativity of cinematic storytelling from Assam.

The award is being seen as a significant recognition for the Assamese film industry at the national level.
