Silchar: Assam Minister Kaushik Rai on Friday inaugurated a newly installed state-of-the-art MRI machine at Silchar Medical College and Hospital, describing it as a major step towards strengthening healthcare services in the Barak Valley.
Following the inauguration, the minister inspected various departments of the hospital and reviewed the quality of medical services, patient facilities, cleanliness, availability of medicines, and the institution’s overall functioning.
Rai also interacted with patients and their family members to understand their experiences and hear their grievances. He directed the hospital authorities to take prompt and effective measures to address the issues raised and ensure better healthcare delivery.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the commissioning of the advanced MRI machine would improve access to timely and accurate diagnostic services for people across the Barak Valley, reducing delays in diagnosis and enhancing treatment outcomes.
He reiterated that providing modern, advanced, and quality healthcare services remains a key priority of the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. He added that the government is committed to strengthening public healthcare infrastructure and ensuring better medical facilities for citizens, with public welfare as its highest priority. Former Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty was also present.
