Lakhipur: BJP candidate Kaushik Rai secured a landslide victory in the Lakhipur constituency in the Assam Elections 2026, winning by a huge margin of 99,400 votes.

Expressing gratitude after the results were declared on Monday, Rai thanked the people of Lakhipur for giving him another opportunity to serve. He also extended heartfelt thanks to BJP workers for their tireless efforts, saying their day and night work made the record victory possible.

“This victory belongs to the people of Lakhipur,” he said.

According to official figures, the total number of voters in the constituency stood at 1,78,489. Out of them, 1,53,753 voters exercised their franchise, recording a turnout of 86.14 percent.

In terms of vote share, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Kaushik Rai secured 1,25,301 votes, accounting for 82.69 percent of the total votes polled. The Indian National Congress candidate received 25,901 votes, which is 17.09 percent.

The decisive margin of 99,400 votes marks one of the biggest victories in the region, highlighting strong support for the BJP in Lakhipur.

The result is being seen as a significant political statement in the constituency, with the BJP strengthening its position in the Barak Valley region.
