“Count your blessing name them one by one…

Count your blessing see what God has done…”

Yes, it’s indeed a blessing in disguise for Maningsiliu, a little girl from Dailong  Primary school Tamenglong whose picture of her babysitting  her brother while her parents were away for work.

This powerful picture was shot by her class teacher while she was copying her class notes.

This shows her devotion to her responsibility as an elder sister to her brother.

Soon her picture was shared on a WhatsApp group…Samaritans have shown their willingness to help her.

This correspondent reached out to the Social welfare department Manipur late on Friday evening.

Miracle started working like anything when  Social Welfare Department and its Childline, Tamenglong visited the family.

The department is willing to give institutional support by keeping the children in Children’s Home which would have free education and other required support till the age of 18years.

“Now the only thing is to wait for her parents willingness to our proposal”, Director Social Welfare said.

Further, the Director stated that they could give 2000/- per month for three whole years by sponsoring her.

As an immediate relief, Childline Tamenglong has provided some dry ration (rice, dal, potato, oil, salt, onion, etc)

The department would be following up on her case in the coming days.

Immediately as the news broke out, Minister Biswajit made a personal call to the relative of Ms Maningsiliu.

On the other hand Minister Thongam  Biswajit has agreed to bring her to Imphal and support and provide her “free education” till she graduates.

Talking to some working women and single parents some has shown their urge to have creches open in their workplace, school, and hospitals where they could leave their babies while they are away working.
