IMPHAL: In a major crackdown against digital crime and cyber harassment targeting women and minors, Manipur Police launched a coordinated statewide investigation codenamed “Operation Dignity,” apprehending 13 individuals, including a child in conflict with the law (CCL).

The action was initiated after law enforcement received credible inputs revealing that administrators and users across multiple Telegram channels were circulating, trading, and monetising non-consensual explicit photographs and videos of local Manipuri women. Investigators also identified the circulation and distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) across these networks.

Following the inputs, an FIR was registered at the Moirang Police Station under Bishnupur district, setting off the special operation.

Seizures and Scope of the Ring

During the coordinated raids, police seized 14 mobile phones and one laptop used to run the illicit channels and handle digital transactions.

Digital forensic examinations are currently underway to trace the electronic evidence, uncover broader subscriber rings, map financial trails generated through content monetisation, and identify additional victims impacted by the network.
