Silchar: A massive rally was organised in Silchar on Tuesday as a joint initiative of the BJP Cachar District Committee and Assam Premi Nagarik Samaj to express gratitude to the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Assam government for its recent drive to reclaim illegally occupied government land.
The rally, which drew a large turnout, was held to acknowledge the Chief Minister’s efforts in freeing state-owned lands, reserved forests, water bodies, PGR, VGR, and various religious and historically significant sites from encroachment.
The march commenced from the BJP office at Itkhola and proceeded through key streets of the town before culminating in a gathering in front of Goldighi Mall.
Speaking at the concluding event, BJP Cachar District President Rupam Saha, MPs Parimal Suklabaidya and Kanad Purkayastha, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, former MLA Dilip Kumar Paul, and several other party leaders lauded the government’s bold and sustained action against land encroachment. They emphasised that such steps were essential to protect public resources and preserve Assam’s heritage.
The leaders also expressed hope that the eviction drives against illegal occupiers would continue with the same intensity in the coming days, reaffirming their support to the Chief Minister’s land protection initiatives.
