Silchar: Silchar Lok Sabha MP and senior BJP leader Parimal Suklabaidya has strongly condemned the alleged gang rape reported near the Silchar Bypass Road on the night of February 19. From New Delhi, he spoke over phone with the Senior Superintendent of Police of Cachar and expressed deep concern over the incident. He termed it a grave crime against women.

The MP asked the SSP to ensure the immediate arrest of all those involved and to take strict legal action. He said such crimes must not be tolerated under any situation.

He also urged the district police to step up night patrols and increase vigilance in vulnerable bypass areas. These include Ramnagar–ISBT Bypass, Mahasadak, Sonabarighat and Rongpur.

Suklabaidya noted that many criminal acts take place late at night in isolated stretches of bypass roads. He asked the police to stay alert and act in a proactive way to prevent such incidents.

He stressed that strong law enforcement and close monitoring are needed to curb crime and ensure the safety of women. He added that women can feel secure in society only when crime is brought under control.
