SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has questioned the delay in granting Starlink a licence to operate in India, raising questions about the influence of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani.

In a post on social media, Musk questioned whether Ambani was the real boss of the country. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi responded to Musk’s post, saying, “Welcome to India, Elon. Wait till you discover the other guy.”

Musk later replied that the situation was troubling, adding to the debate over the approval process for satellite communication services in India.

The exchange came after the Ministry of Communications rejected allegations of discriminatory treatment in the approval process. The ministry stated that security assessments for all three licensed satellite communication operators were underway.

Starlink, operated by Musk’s SpaceX, is seeking to expand its satellite-based internet services in India. The delay in its final approval has drawn attention to the regulatory process and competition in the country’s satellite internet sector.
