Chief Minister termed the introducing of Air Cargo Services as a historic occasion for the state

Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, officially launched the Air Cargo Services at Dimapur Airport by flagging off 111 cartoons of perishable and non-perishable fruits and vegetables including some finished products at Dimapur Airport on 2nd March 2021.

Addressing the inaugural programme, Chief Minister termed the introducing of Air Cargo Services as a historic occasion for the state. He said that Nagaland is blessed with vast land resources with the varied agro-climatic condition the state has a wide range of potential to produce organic products and along with the farmers the educated youth showing interest in modern farming with the capacity to produce high quality and valued fruits and vegetables, reaching those produces to reach the Cosmopolitan cities where there were demands would be a huge challenge for everybody. He, however, was positive that the farmers, as well as the entrepreneurs, would take it seriously and the Agri, Horti and allied departments would not only stick to demonstration farm or working on a pilot basis but empowering the entrepreneurs to be partner in the supply chain and should also come to the rescue of post-harvest management like packaging and value addition so that right prices were fetched and the farmers were duly benefited, stating that unless framers are stable and rich we cannot say that our society is strong.

Stressing on the challenges ahead, Rio said that the farmers should produce consistently and the produce should reach the air cargo station in the quickest time with the least cost at the same time maintaining the quality. He also felt the need to educate the farmers and even the entrepreneurs through workshops or to have a discussion to make them understand how better business can be done where farmers and the people who are involved doing business, transporting from farms to air cargo station get their share of profits and the consumers should be satisfied.

Regional Executive Director, AAI, North East Region, M. Suresh and Minister, Horticulture and Border Affairs, Nagaland, Mhathung Yanthan, delivered the keynote address during the programme while the dedicatory prayer was offered by Senior Pastor, Thilixu Village Baptist Church, Dimapur, Rev. Dr. Hevukhu Achumi. The programme was chaired by Commissioner & Secretary, Horticulture Department, Anenla T. Sato.
