Involved in a serious escalation of communal violence in Manipur

Imphal, 30 Sep: India’s top anti-terror agency on Saturday arrested a terror suspect in Manipur’s hill district Churachandpur in a transnational conspiracy case involving terrorist leaders in Bangladesh and Myanmar.

One accused person namely Seiminlun Gangte S/O Phaikholum Gangte of Phaikholum J Muntha, Churachandpur was arrested on Saturday at around 2:00 pm. The accused and his network in Myanmar and Bangladesh sought to exploit the Manipur crisis, official sources said. Seiminlun Gangte, a Kuki tribal, is instrumental in a “conspiracy with Myanmar- and Bangladesh-based leadership of terror outfits to wage war against India by exploiting the ethnic unrest in Manipur.”

He is also the main accused in the car bomb blast on June 22 in Manipur’s Kwakta village in Bishnupur district that inured 3 persons including a child. A Scorpio SUV parked near a small bridge had exploded on June 22 causing to a serious escalation of communal violence in Manipur. Soon after his arrest, he was airlifted from Imphal to Kolkata via Delhi by Indigo flight.
