Shillong: State-run power major NTPC will set up modern STEM laboratories in 27 government schools in Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi district under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
The project is being carried out in partnership with the district administration and will receive funding of up to Rs 1.48 crore. It aims to improve science education at the school level and give students better access to hands-on learning.
The initiative will include modern science kits, basic robotics tools, and digital learning materials. Along with this, teachers will be trained to use the new equipment effectively. Support will also be provided to improve basic infrastructure where needed.
Officials said the programme is designed to build interest in science among students and help them develop creativity and problem-solving skills. The move is expected to strengthen STEM education in the district, especially in rural areas where such facilities are limited.
The project is part of NTPC’s wider effort to support education and skill development in the Northeast.
