Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen wearing the traditional Bodo aronai during his visit to the Netherlands, bringing Assam’s rich cultural heritage to the global stage.
The aronai, a traditional handwoven scarf of the Bodo community, is regarded as a symbol of pride, honour and cultural identity. The Prime Minister’s gesture drew appreciation from people across Assam, especially from the Bodo community.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma described the moment as a matter of great pride for the Bodo people. In a statement, he thanked the Prime Minister for recognising and promoting the cultural traditions of the region on an international platform.
The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to Modi for ushering in what he described as a new era of peace, stability and prosperity in Bodoland following years of development and political progress in the region.
The gesture has been widely appreciated on social media, with many calling it a proud representation of Assam’s indigenous culture before the international community.
