Silchar: The Assam Government’s new scheme to provide subsidised lentils (masur dal), sugar, and salt to all ration card-holding families will be formally launched on Monday by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Kaushik Rai will join the Chief Minister at the state-level inauguration.

Ahead of the rollout, a preparatory meeting was held on Sunday at a marriage hall on Circuit House Road in Silchar to review the arrangements for the launch. The session brought together the designated chief guests appointed by the Government of Assam to preside over inaugural events at each fair price shop across the district.

Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty chaired the meeting, which focused on ensuring effective coordination, logistical readiness, and smooth implementation of the scheme during Monday’s launch.
